Your EU data limit will change as of January 1, 2018. All relevant information can be found in the eety account manager.

This is how your future EU data volume is calculated!

The formula is as follows: Price of tariff package (net): 6.00 x 2 = number of GB for EU data limit

Here is an example:
Cost of tariff package for 30 days = € 9.90 (gross)
Cost of tariff package of which net = € 8.25
The formula gives a result of € 8.25: 6.0 x 2 = 2.75 GB EU data limit

More information about the number 6.0 in this formula: As of January 1, 2018, 6.00 is the maximum price per GB that an operator in one country can charge an operator in another EU country.

Roaming charges when traveling in other EU countries are being discontinued from June 15, 2017 onwards. What does that mean? You can use your tariff (if roaming is enabled) in any EU country in the same way as you would at home in Austria, meaning you can make phone calls, send text messages and surf the Web throughout the EU with no additional costs applied. Your tariff is then valid in 31 countries (three countries are not in the EU but participating voluntarily).

If you have the eety BASIS tariff and because of that no free units included, you can still use your cell phone in every EU country without a surcharge. Every minute, text message and MB costs exactly as much as it would in Austria.

Applicable in the following 31 countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom.

All the information on this policy relevant to your particular tariff will be shown in the Account Manager from June 15, 2017.

Traveling in the EU.

This new policy applies to both leisure and business travel. It is designed to make the use of cell phones and tablets easier and more affordable when traveling in the EU. This new policy is not intended for predominant use in another EU country, however. Accordingly, if a tariff is used predominantly within the EU (outside Austria) for a period of four months, then each MB, minute and text message will have a surcharge applied. If this is the case, we will inform you about it first by text message.

EU data limit for certain tariffs.

The EU has specified a formula, which decides whether all or only part of your data may be used in other EU countries. As from June 15, 2017, the eety Account Manager will show you if your tariff has a data limit and if it does, how high that limit is.

The deciding factors in the calculation are how much data you have available within Austria and the net price per tariff package for 30 days.

Who determines whether a tariff has a EU data limit?

A formula provides the answer: Net price of the tariff package ÷ Data available within Austria

There is no EU data limit if the result is greater than 7.70 euro:
Net price of the tariff package ÷ Data available within Austria = greater than 7.70 euro.
This tariff has no EU data limit. All your data available within Austria may be used in every EU country, plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.

There is a EU data limit if the result is lower than 7.70 euro:
Net price of the tariff package ÷ Data available within Austria = lower than 7.70 euro.
This tariff has a EU data limit. So, how high is the EU data limit? A fixed formula applies here, too.

You can find out if your tariff has roaming enabled, a EU data limit, and how high this is in your eety Account Manager from June 15, 2017 onwards. When you are traveling in a EU country, we will also send a text message before you reach your EU data limit.

How high is a tariff’s EU data limit?

The formula: Net price of the tariff package ÷ 7.70 x 2 = number of GB for EU data limit

Here is an example:
Gross price of the tariff package for 30 days = 9.90 euro
Meaning the net price of the tariff package = 8.25 euro
Accordingly, the formula is 8.25 euro ÷ 7.7 x 2 = 2.14 GB EU data limit

Additional information on the figure 7.7 in this formula: 7.70 is the maximum price per GB that an operator in one country may demand from an operator in another EU country. Accordingly, if you use your data available within Austria to surf the Web in a EU country free of charge, then eety pays the local operator 7.70 euro per GB. This maximum price between operators was laid down by the EU and will be reduced gradually until a final amount of 2.20 euro is reached in 2022. This means that the factor of 7.70 in this formula will steadily decrease over the next five years and the EU data available in tariffs with a EU data limit will therefore rise automatically.

In simple terms: An example.

The example refers to a tariff with tariff package. In the case of eety BASIS, billing in a EU country is according to utilization. One minute of talk time costs exactly the same as it would for a call within Austria.

For example, vacation in Spain after June 15, 2017.

Phone calls: You make a call

to a Spanish number: Deducted from the free minutes available within Austria
to an Austrian number: Deducted from the free minutes available within Austria
to Germany (or another EU country): Deducted from the free minutes available within Austria
to Canada (or another non-EU country): Billed according to roaming prices for telephony.

Phone calls: You are called

meaning the phone call is free, as it would be in Austria (no overseas surcharge because EU country)

If all free minutes are used up

The price per minute within Austria is charged for calls to a EU country.

You send a text message

to a Spanish number: Deducted from the number of free text messages available within Austria
to an Austrian number: Deducted from the number of free text messages available within Austria
to Germany (or another EU country): Deducted from the number of free text messages available within Austria

to Canada (or another non-EU country): Billed according to roaming prices for telephony.

You receive a text message

meaning you pay nothing for it because receiving a text message is always free of charge within the EU.

If all the free text messages in your tariff package are used up

Each text message sent in another EU country will be charged at 0.012.

Data usage in tariffs without a EU data limit

You can use all your data available within Austria in another EU country

tariffs with a EU data limit

You can use all the data up to the limit. After it is used, your remaining data available within Austria is used up to the limit with a surcharge of 0.009023 euro per MB.

If all the data available within your tariff is used up

Billing for data services in other EU countries will be the same as it is at home in Austria (at 0.009023 per MB).

Data usage example

The EU data limit for a tariff package with 3 GB of data is 2.14 GB of the 3 GB.

Accordingly, the following applies in other EU countries:
2.14 GB: Utilization of the data with no additional costs because of EU data limit.
2.14 to 3 GB: Utilization of the data with a surcharge of 0.009023 euro per MB.
The data available are used up after 3 GB and each MB will be charged at 0.009023 euro.

Text message for data roaming cut-off limit

A cut-off limit of 60 euro applies when using data in other countries (regardless of EU or not). You will automatically receive a text message from us when you reach 80% and 100% of this limit.
